Florida/Caribbean Architect Magazine



Florida/Caribbean Architect Magazine has put out their Fall 11 issue which highlights the AIA Florida/Caribbean Honor & Design Awards.

The 42nd Street House was a receipent of the Excellence in Architecture-Renovations & Additions Merit Award.

The jury was quoted as saying " This is an unusally well-done renovation of a mid-century modern structure. The inside does not look like a traditional Florida interior. The building was carefully detailed and designed and the renovation is particularly worthy of note".

Designer Digs Tour



Pamela Holladay, ASID and the 42nd Street house will be featured in the Designer Digs tour. The tour is scheduled for Saturday-Sunday October 22-23 frin 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 to tour all eight Sarasota homes. The tour highlights 8 house the interior designers have worked on and they will be available to answer any questions you may have. This is a wonderful opportunity to view the 42nd Street house which has recently won the Merit Award of Excellence from the AIA Florida and also the AIA Gulfcoast Chapter.

CB Wilson House Certified LEED Gold





Seibert Architects, P.A. is pleased to announce that the C.B. Wilson House and Urfer Family Park located in Sarasota Florida has recently been certified by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) as LEED Gold. This is the third LEED Gold certified project for Sarasota County.



Feature of this certification include limiting the use of potable water for landscape irrigation by 50% through the introduction of drought tolerant plants and low flow irrigation devices, water efficient plumbing fixtures and using energy efficient light fixtures. 75% of construction waste was recycled and thus diverted from the landfill. Appoximately 20% of the material purchased contains recycled content. 48% of the wood was obtained from sustainable forests. Care was taken to use Low or No-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and products without urea-formaldehyde.

Seibert Architects Awarded Oustanding Achievement in the Field of Green Buildings



Seibert Architects is pleased to announce that the C.B. Wilson House located at Urfer Park in Sarasota has recently been awarded the Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Green Buildings by the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation. This award is given to projects that have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the field of historic preservation through the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation Annual Preservation Awards Program.





This project is a historic rehabilitation of a structure that was originally constructed circa 1906. It has sustainable "green" features such as water efficient plumbing fixtures, energy efficient light fixtures,m construction waste that was recycled and contains recycled content products, and using Low or No-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and products without urea-formaldehyde.


Seibert Architects acknowledges Howell Construction Group, Inc., contractor, and Hees & Associates, structural engineers fror their participation and efforts in this project.
