Seibert Architects has joined with RMJM Hillier, Diane Lewis Architect and Beckelman+Capalino of New York in a joint effort to save the Paul Rudolph buildings at Riverview High School. Our proposal was was not the first choice by the jury selected for this competition, but was later the only submission selected by the Sarasota County School Board.
Diane Lewis is quoted in the Sarasota Herald tribune as saying "It's a project that's putting a jewel into a setting and making the new building look beter because of the jewel that's in front of it. That's opposed to how it's been looked at, which is the salvation of some old wreck."
The music quadrangle would not only support music from students but the possiblity of opening it to others who would rehearse there, become a forum for national or international music, music programs and other progams that would be a benefit not only to students but to the community as well.
"To destroy these buildings would be destroying a priceless piece of history"-Riverview Committe Member...
