Seibert Architects in florida / caribbean Architect Fall 2009

Seibert Architects is featured in the florida / caribbean Architect magazine Fall 2009 issue for the Cohen House's Excellence in Architecture-Renovations & Additions Merit Award. The jury that awarded Seibert Architects this award said " Florida's famous mid-century modernism is in good hands with skillful renovations like this one".

Designed by Paul Rudolph in 1954 the original owners intended for the house to be used for living, entertaining and ensemble concerts. Renovations to the house were conducted in 2005/2006 with the owner requiring that the house be documented and restored to its original state by repairing deteriorated structural components, rehabilitating the finishes and original furniture and providing modern conveniences and technologies to accommodate today's lifestyle.

Dale S. Parks, AIA, LEED A.P. awarded "Citizen Architect"

Seibert Architects is pleased to announce that Dale S. Parks, AIA, LEED A.P. was recently honored by the American Institute of Architects' National Board of Directors as a Citizen Architect. The AIA National Board of Directors identifies a Citizen Architect as architects that show a commitment to their community through civic engagement and the broader purposes of architecture.

Mr. Parks has served on City of Sarasota Advisory Boards for over 15 years and is currently a member of the City of Sarasota's Comunity Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Advisory Board.

Slightly more than 1 percent of National AIA members are considered Citizen Architects. The AIA National Board of Directors recognizes "civic engaged architects serving their communities by applying their insights, talents, training and experience to actively advocate and support initiatives that enhance the quality of life and future of the communities they serve".

Cooney House Resort Rental

The Cooney House designed in 1967 by Seibert Architects and one of the most famous of the Sarasota School of Architecture homes is available for rent. The Cooney house has been published internationally and has won numerous awards for it's simple, class modern design.

This home has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths and is located just off St. Armands Circle. Within a short walk to shopping, galleries, restaurants and Lido Beach, this home is the perfect getaway from snow and cold. Samuel Holladay awarded "Citizen Architect" from AIA

Seibert Architects is pleased to announce that Samuel C. Holladay, AIA was recently honored by the American Institute of Architects' National Board of Directors as Citizen Architects. The AIA National Board of Directors identifies Citizen Architects as architects that show a commitment to their community through civic engagement and the broader purposes of architecture.

Mr. Holladay has served on the Gulf Coast Heritage Association since 2003 which proudly preserves and interprets Historic Spanish Point, a 30 acre sight listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Bechtel House by Seibert Architects SOLD

Recently purchased by someone who appreciates the Sarasota School of Architecture style of homes, the Bechtel house shows the transition from the 1950-1960's Sarasota School of Architecture houses that had terrazzo floors and flat roofs to the vaulted ceilings and concrete floors. Built in 1967 it is larger than the previous SSA homes and offers sliding walls of glass, stacked block walls and a large patio/garden area. This home was sold by Martie Lieberman of SaraBay Real Estate. Martie specializes in Sarasota School of Architecture properties and also conducts tours of the Modern Sarasota homes in the area.

Sarasota Architecture Guide Book

Sarasota Architectural Foundation, the Sarasota Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Design Center at Ringling College of Art and Design collaborated on a guidebook that will lead you through the historic and world renown style that originated in Sarasota, the Sarasota School of Architecture. Available today, the guidebook references famous local architects' designs, Paul Rudolph, Jack West, Victor Lundy, and Edward "Tim" Seibert to name a few.

The guidebook contains a map of locations and brief synopsis of each structure on the map.
